Honda Motorcycle Alternator

Honda is the world’s largest producer of engines and is Japan’s #1 top motorcycle manufacturer. To answer the demand for inexpensive, reliable transportation for a war-torn Japan, engineer and business magnate Soichiro Honda began building motorcycles in 1946. The very first Honda motorcycles incorporated military surplus engines on regular bicycles. Honda quickly gained notoriety for his motorcycle design and in 1949, the first fully-original Honda motorcycle with its own bespoke engine and frame, called the Model D (Dream) was born. The Honda Model D and J Benly provided the starting point for Honda’s next upcoming motorcycle innovations in the 1950s. In 1951, the Honda E-Type Dream was the first Honda motorcycle to feature a 4-stroke engine. It wasn’t a fast motorcycle, nor was it especially powerful, but the 4-stroke engine would go on to become a mainstay in not just Honda’s motorcycle lineup, but throughout the entire global motorcycle industry. Honda entered the American market in 1958 with the C100 Super Cub. Using the advertising jingle, “You meet the nicest people on a Honda”, the C100 became the best-selling motorcycle model of all-time, besting even the traditional American touring bikes from Harley-Davidson as well as the British club racers from BSA and Triumph. After World War II, the West was experiencing a financial boom as people were taking interest in recreational activities. Vehicles had gone past basic transportation and were now entering the realm of sport performance and hobbies. The sales success of the C100 Super Cub took Honda to the international motorcycle racing circuit. Their 1961 victory at the Isle of Man cemented Honda’s future as a world leader in high-performance, racing motorcycles and sport bikes. The 1965 CB450 444cc inline-twin was Honda’s first “BIG” motorcycle and it too was a major sales victory. The CB450 was followed by the 1969 CB750 which utilized an air-cooled, transverse-mount inline 4-cylinder engine that set the standard layout for all sport bikes that followed. Throughout the 70s and 80s, Japanese bikes became the hottest 2-wheel trend and into the 90s and the present, Honda continues to push the boundaries of high-performance motorcycles with the CBR1000XX Super Blackbird, the VFR, and the elite RC213V-S Supersport racing street bike.
