Canada’s Jiger Corporation invented the first amphibious all-terrain vehicle (AATV) called the Jiger in 1961. All-terrain vehicles were developed for military use during the Vietnam War and were employed alongside 4X4 Jeeps, pickup trucks, and heavy-duty carriers.
