Polaris ATV Fuel Valve

Polaris is America’s #1 domestic manufacturer of ATVs but long adventure seekers took to off-road terrains, the company was famous for their line of snowmobiles. Polaris Industries was born in 1954 out of the need for a vehicle that could safely navigate through the harsh and extreme Winter conditions of the American midwest. Polaris’ snowmobiles were an instant hit but as the snowmobile craze faded nationally and all-terrain vehicles become popular, Polaris was struggling to stay alive. In an act of desperation, Polaris joined the booming ATV market in 1985 with the 4-wheel Trail Boss. The Trail Boss combined the best of 4-wheel ATV performance with the engineering and technical know-how of Polaris’ back history in snowmobiles. This move proved to be just what Polaris needed as the company was able to claim 25% of the ATV market by the early 1990s. Polaris continues today with trusted ATV models such as the Big Boss 4X6, Trail Boss 350, Polaris Magnum 425, Sportsman, and the famous RZR series of heavy-duty, rugged ATVs. If you ride or own a Polaris ATV, trust HQ Powersports to be your source for OEM-spec aftermarket replacement parts such as fuel valves and fuel pumps for Polaris ATVs. The fuel valve, or fuel petcock, is a small shut-off valve that controls the flow of liquid fuel. ATVs and UTVs, like motorcycles, have fuel tanks that are situated higher than the carburetor and fuel feeds are controlled by gravity. Most older designs incorporate a 3-position fuel petcock valve: ON, OFF, and RESERVE. The RESERVE setting is used to access the bottom portion of the fuel tank. This was due to compensate for the lack of a proper fuel gauge. Today’s modern systems use an automatic, vacuum operated petcock that often include a PRIME position as to allow fuel flow into the carburetor without having to fire the engine. A faulty fuel petcock, like any fuel delivery system problem, can cause issues with your ATV or UTVs performance. Sputtering, stalling, failure to crank, and poor idle quality are some of the ailments that can be attributed to a bad fuel valve. This relatively simple and inexpensive fix can save you valuable time, effort, and money versus going out and replacing the entire fuel system. HQ Powersports specializes in high quality maintenance parts and performance parts for 4-wheel off-road ATV and UTV powersports vehicles.
